Middle School

The Middle School program (Years 7-10) builds on the foundation that has been established in junior school and encourages students to strengthen their interests and abilities. Students learn to focus their critical and creative thinking and academic skills in areas of their choice. Students are also given opportunities in leadership and teamwork as tools for their future.

Set in the centre of a large, semi-rural estate, the College allows students to physically leave the hustle and bustle of life, to focus on their education and personal growth in a peaceful and relaxing environment.

Years 7 and 8

In Years 7 and 8, our goal is to expose students to a wide range of learning experiences in a variety of subject areas. All students attend Religious Studies and weekly Assembly. All students study a common core of:

Religious Studies (Adventist Encounter Curriculum)

Year 7 and 8 students also have the option of participating in the following electives:

Years 9

Year 9 students have been identified as unique in terms of learning needs. This is due to a number of factors including brain and physical development and a decrease in curiosity, engagement and motivation in learning.

The Year 9 program is based on the latest research in educating Year 9 students and utilises our school’s assets and location to enhance student learning and growth.  To achieve this, we have developed:

  1. Structures and procedures that deliver timetable flexibility and enable a strong bond to be developed between staff and students.
  2. Classroom organisation and teaching and learning practices that are responsive to the diverse learning, social and emotional needs of young adolescents.
  3. Curriculum program structure that facilitates deep engagement with learning.
  4. Learning opportunities that support students to engage with adults from their community and provide practical support to their community.
  5. Opportunities for students to experience adult-like roles of leadership and responsibility.
  6. Opportunities for students to participate in special events or programs that are of substantial interest and/or challenge to them.
  7. Opportunities for students to celebrate and be recognised for their contributions, efforts and achievements.
  8. Opportunities for students to identify and work with a mentor from within or beyond the school community.
  9. A distinct physical environment dedicated to Year 9.
  10. Opportunities for intensive off-campus learning experiences.

In Year 9, students have the opportunity to create their own learning course, based on common core subjects as well as additional electives of their choice.  All students attend regular Religious Studies classes and weekly Assembly.  All students study a common core of:

Year 10
