Starting 2023

We are looking forward to teaching your child/children in 2023 and nurturing their growth in all aspects of their life - academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

To help you get ready for next year, below are answers to some frequently asked questions.

When do students start school in 2023?

• Years 10–12 students from Monday 30 January.
• Pre-Primary to Year 9 students from Tuesday 31 January.
• 3 year-old and 4 year-old Kindy students from Wednesday 1 February.

Secondary students (Year 7-12) should assemble on the Secondary Campus front lawn at 8:45am on their first day.

When are the Registration Days?

Primary Campus (Kindy to Year 6)

The school will be open on Wednesday January 25 between 10am and 2pm for parents/guardians to come in and collect your child/ren’s books (for covering), visit your child/ren’s new teacher, purchase Primary Sport Uniforms and check out your child's 2023 classroom.

This will be an opportunity to:

• Complete & sign Student Information Forms
• Collect Fee Statements & complete the Fee Payment Commitment Form
• Complete Interim Swimming Lessons Enrolment Form
• Purchase formal uniforms from the Secondary Campus. You'll be able to book an appointment online from Monday 16 January.

School books will only be available for pick-up on Registration Day.

Secondary Campus (Years 7 to 12)

Parents/guardians and students are required to attend on either Tuesday 24 or Wednesday 25 January between 8:30am – 4:00pm.

This will be an opportunity to:

• Complete & sign Student Information & Permission Forms
• Collect Fee Statements & complete Fee Payment Commitment Form
• Sign iPad Agreement Forms (NEW Students)
• Purchase uniforms. You'll be able to book an appointment online from Monday 16 January. 

Please bring with you:

• Updated Medicare card (if expired in the last year)
• Financial/bank details.
• Valid Concession Card if applying for Secondary Assistance Scheme (Secondary only).  Forms will be available at Reception.

When is the Secondary Uniform Shop open and how do I book an appointment?

The Secondary Uniform Shop opening hours will be:

• Tuesday 24 January from 8:30am – 3:00pm (Secondary students ONLY).
• Wednesday 25 January from 9:00am – 3:00pm (Primary students & Secondary siblings).
• Monday 30 January - Pre Order Pick up ONLY (email cac.uniform@cac.wa.edu.au). Email your order by 5:00pm on Friday, 27 January. Orders can be collected from the front office between 11:00am – 3:00pm.
• Tuesday 31 January from 8:30am – 10:30am.
• Thursday 2 February from 8:30am – 10:30am.

Where can I find the stationery / book lists?

Primary student books are distributed on Registration Day. Secondary students textbooks are provided by the school and will be distributed on the students' first day.

2023 Stationery and Resource Lists have been uploaded to Carmel’s website under ‘Links’ or can be accessed here:

• Year 3 - 6
• Year 7 - 10
• Year 11 - 12

Students need to purchase their stationery prior to the commencement of school.

When will we find out about the Bus Routes?

Bus routes will be reviewed before school commences. You will receive an email by Friday 27 January advising of your child’s pick up and drop off times for 2023.

Transperth also offers a special school bus that goes between Carmel and Kalamunda Bus station.  

How do I get a Transperth SmartRider?

Smartriders can be ordered online using the following link https://smartrider.monitorwa.com.au/buyonline

Smartriders are posted to the College and will be given to the students when they arrive. 

What is the Fee Schedule and when will I receive the Fee Statement?

Your Fee Statements will be available for pick up on Registration Day.

I'm a new Secondary Student, what House / Faction will I be in?

Student lists will be published and displayed at Reception on the Registration Days.

What days do Secondary students do Sport and Recreation Electives and when will I find out what I'm doing?

Junior Sport/Recreation (Year 7-9) is on Wednesdays and Senior Sport/Recreation is on Fridays. Students wear their sport uniform for the entire day.

Student Sport/Recreation lists will be published and displayed outside Room 1 on the Registration Days.

When will Secondary Students find out what Electives they are enrolled in for Art, Design and Technology?

Year 7 students rotate throughout the year to experience Food Science and Technology, Metal and Design and Wood and Design.

Year 8-10 Art, Design and Technology Elective lists will be published and displayed outside Room 1 on the Registration Days.
